     Three Enigmas - an article concerning  the mysterious  " Malartics of Hurigny" :  a version (altered for this website, and incorporating the contents of a later Appendix ) of an original document prepared by Vic for the the owners of the Château des Poccards Guesthouse, near Macon, Burgundy, and their guests, to enable some identification of the heraldry (and a probably related portrait).

     The Affective Fleur-de-Lys - "this piece has taken its place in shortened form as Prologue to a separate website article, now published in our 'Stained Glass' Main site section" - how this symbol or emblem "means" more than its political or family significance

     WHY (me and) HERALDRY - "very much a personal view of the attractions to Vic of the study of Heraldry" ... what attracted him to it, & what it has come to mean & to include in its developed attractions

     The Long Whatton Charles Townley "Achievement" - ... a major motive for having a coat of arms, “The Desire for Recognition” - how this is shown in a specific family-member's early efforts at creating arms for himself, before he became "top Herald" in 18th Century England ... how such an attempt illustrates how personal heraldry works
